great british butterfly count – Thursday 8th August – 10.00am – 12.00am

Butterflies react very quickly to changes in the environment which makes them excellent biodiversity indicators. Declining butterfly numbers are an early warning for other wildlife losses. That’s why the butterfly count is so important.

Come and join us at the mill in the wildlife area to help with the national butterfly count.  It will take just 15 minutes of your time to count the number and types of butterflies flying around.

We will be joined by Butterfly Conservation Suffolk which will be able to help identify the different types of butterflies and tell you more about them.

Everything you need will be provided for you – an identification chart, a pencil and a recording sheet.  Or you may prefer to down load the app at

And afterwards – why not visit the mill, the shop or the café where tea, coffee, lunches, ice creams or delicious cakes are available.
